I will lead you along

10-28-2017

Friends and family,

Time is flying in the MTC! We have 6 hours of class every day and 3 hours of language/scripture study and the rest of the time is meals and a little exercise. Food here is less than ideal, but every once in a while they have Papa Johns so that's definitely a blessing. I hear they bring in Taco Bell sometimes, which is awesome because TB is life.

Learning Spanish takes tons and tons of work because, even though I already feel comfortable communicating and understanding people, I'm nowhere near fluent so I've got lots of work to do. Elder Christie and I (my companion) try to memorize 8 words an hour, so we end up learning over 100 words a day. This week Elder Stevenson (one of the 12 apostles) came and spoke to us about how to become more Christlike. He talked about humility, obedience, diligence, and virtue, and how we can better work on each of those.

Some funny Spanish things from this week was one of the elders in my class was trying to say "God can forgive our sins", but accidentally said "God can forgive our fish" because "pecado" and "pescado" are prrreeetttyyyyyyy similar. So yeah that was a good time haha. Overall life here has been pretty busy but loving it all the same.

There's tons of huge murals at the MTC and below is a picture of my favorite one. It says "I will lead you along" with a painting of disciples following Jesus. Everyone has their own problems and struggles, but if we follow the example of Jesus Christ, he will walk with us and lead us along through our struggles.

Until next week!

Just Arrived!

Friends and family,

I just got to the MTC (Missionary Training Center) like 3 days ago and I already have p-day, so there's not much to email about hahaha. The past few days have been awesome, and we're crazy busy with classes and studying. We speak Spanish all day every day which is really fun because everyone in my class speaks alright Spanish. It's coming along really well, and I feel comfortable holding a conversation which is good. Every week I'll send a little bit about what I'm doing as well as a spiritual thought.

For the past few days, I've been studying the names of Jesus Christ, and in John 14, Thomas asks Jesus "How can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way". I know that if you are looking for the way in life, you can follow the example of Christ. I know that He lives, and that He is The Way.

I love you all, and I hope you have an awesome week!
