Iceland!!!!

Friends and Family,

We had tons of lessons and new investigators this week which is always fun!! Enrique is doing awesome! He's so prepared to be baptized on the 17th, but his wife told him (while we were there) that, if he came to church again, then she would leave him. So that was a little snag but no pasa nada. So he's decided to stop coming until he finds a way that he can come without losing his wife. The good news is that we were able to teach her! We're praying/fasting that she has a change of heart, and we're going to continue to just hit her with the spirit until she gets baptized too!!

A super crazy miracle is that we found this guy right when I got here who is a member but lives in this tiny town that is impossible to get to without a car, so he hasn't been to church in like 5 years. He's suuuppeerrr awesome, but he's impossible to contact. Last lesson we invited him to read the Book of Mormon, and when we met with him this past week he said he read it in 2 days (after saying that he didn't have that much motivation hahaha). If he can read the Book of Mormon in 2 days without motivation I'm really wondering what he can do with motivation haha.

In other news, we found this store called Iceland in the tiny town where we live, and it's this British imports store. Don't get me wrong, Spanish food is awesome, but we were a LITTLE excited when we found things that are crazy hard to find here like Dr. Pepper and Beef Jerky!

E_______ Though

Dear Friends and Family

We've already seen so many miracles with Facebook and WhatsApp! Right when I got here, we found an awesome investigator who seemed super interested (she invited her friend to come listen to us too). Since then, she just fell off the face of the earth which we were super sad about. Somehow, yesterday I found her on Facebook and she immediately accepted our friend request and messaged us telling us she had been out of town because her grandson was born! She's really excited to meet with us when she returns in February! Another miracle was that we just randomly received a WhatsApp message from a person Elder Moreland contacted a long time ago who may be interested! E_____ doesn't believe in having technology so that hasn't changed but it's been way easier to get in contact with everyone else! I hope everyone is doing well!!

What'sApp!

January 15, 2018

Friends and Family,

Big news from Benidorm!! We have been approved to use several social media apps including Facebook (which I don't think we'll actually use that much) and What'sApp!! Phone service here is super expensive, so literally no one pays for text or call service, they just download What'sApp for free, which is great for them because it’s free but it's really hard for us because it makes it next to impossible to communicate with anyone since we haven’t been able to use the app. So, we're really excited for that change!

Enrique is doing amazing! We helped him quit smoking which is a huge accomplishment for him! It's weird because most of the people we taught this week were Spaniards (usually Spaniards want nothing to do with us)!

Many people that I talk to have different opinions about God. Many wonder whether or not He is perfectly merciful or perfectly just. The Book of Mormon prophet Alma explains this topic in Alma Chapter 42: "And now, the plan of mercy could not be brought about except an atonement should be made; therefore God himself atoneth for the sins of the world, to bring about the plan of mercy, to appease the demands of justice, that God might be a perfect, just God, and a merciful God also" (Here's the whole chapter if you want to learn more:  https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/alma/42?lang=eng).

I love you all!
