Friends and Family,

Pretty crazy week with interviews on Monday, zone conference on Tuesday, exchanges on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then we were in a trio for the rest of the week which was way too much fun. We had tons of family nights, and T____ came to church!! He met with the branch president and is really getting his life back together! Today we did this huge hike through this big valley. It took like 5 hours...

You may notice that I'm not emailing from my church email (I'm obedient I promise lol). A few people from our mission got their emails shut down on accident so it will take a week or so until its back up and running.

I also hit my 6 months which was weird. I feel pretty Spaniard already its gonna be awful by the time I'm done. Spaniards, like all humans, have some pretty weird quirks that are true 100% of the time. For example: every Spaniard male over the age of 50 walks slower than a snail, slightly hunched over, with both hands behind his back. His left hand will stick out and his right hand will grab the wrist of his left hand. This is how old Spaniard men walk while they bicker about which 7th century saint is the most significant. Gotta love them! Good thing is that if you contact an old Spaniard guy right in from of him, it will take too much work for him to go around you so he doesn't have a choice but to listen! I love the Spanish people!! Just a little weird.

Here's a pretty cool quote from Elder Holland: "There is not a single loophole or curveball or open trench to fall into for the man or woman who walks the path that Christ walks. When he says, “Come, follow me” (Luke 18:22), he means that he knows where the quicksand is and where the thorns are and the best way to handle the slippery slope near the summit of our personal mountains. He knows it all, and he knows the way. He is the way." I know there is no other way to salvation except through Jesus Christ!

April 16, 2018

Friends and Family,

We had 4 family nights this past week, which are always really good teaching opportunities to children and investigators. We also visited with T___ a few times, who is a member of the church who has attended a few times since I got here, but before that hadn't come in about 15 years. When I got here, he couldn't walk without crutches, but we gave him a blessing and one day a few weeks later we showed up and he was healed! Which was crazy! Milagros haha. This is someone who had so much faith that a priesthood blessing could heal him, and it did. He really wanted to read the Book of Mormon, but didn"t have reading glasses nor money to buy reading glasses, so we found a little magnified glass in our piso and gave him that and a Book of Mormon with our testimonies in it. He hasn't ever listened to President Nelson, but he basically quoted him twice. When we gave him the Book of Mormon, he said "You could have given me all the gold in the world, but nothing is more valuable than this book!" So that was pretty cool. He's been reading a lot since then, and definitely growing a lot spiritually. We were talking to him about how to receive the guidance of the spirit better in his life, and he just randomly said "I can't wait for the spirit to start speaking to me!" He"s a prophet its crazy haha.

I came across one of my favorite scriptures this week while reading the Book of Mormon. While Jacob is finishing his writing, he says  "O be wise, what can I say more" (Jacob 6:12). Many of the world's problems would be solved if people were wise with their thoughts, words, and deeds.

Friends and Family,

Did a lot of work this week! We met with E____ 3 times, all of which were with members of the Branch to help him get to know people better! We got fed a lot too which is always good. I'm pretty sure that we're getting fed every day this week which is crazy for Spain haha. We also have 4 or 5 family nights planned for this week, one of which was yesterday with a ton of members from Callosa and Polop.

We visited an interesting less active member of the church. His house is really sketchy so we thought we were gonna die but we're alive which is good!

A quote that I really like this week is from a past prophet, President Benson: "The Book of Mormon has not been, nor is it yet, the center of our personal study, family teaching, preaching, and missionary work. Of this we must repent." Repentance is becoming better, and all of us can be better at reading the Book of Mormon and other Scriptures regularly. It gives us strength to overcome any challenge that we face.

ECHO HAWK KAKAWWW

April 2, 2018

We got the news and all of us are staying here in Benidorm for another 6 weeks!! Super pumped because the work is thriving here and the members are awesome so I really couldn't ask for more! We only have a few more weeks before the bank kicks us out. We're still working with E___ to get him baptized this month!

Lots of people canceled this week because its Holy Week, so we decided to go learn more about the Jehova's Witnesses and went to the sacrament meeting that they only have once a year. It was pretty crazy. Everyone wanted to take pictures with us which was funny.

I made some good paella, we had some really good seafood with rice, and the Whalley's made us some really good Hamburgers and this Greek lasagna thing.

Something that I really liked from general conference was from Elder Echo Hawk. He emphasized the importance of forgiveness and that forgiving others brings the power of the Savior into our lives. One of the parables that I love is that of the unmerciful servant. Although he was forgiven of his astronomical debt from his master, he wouldn't forgive the minute amount from one of his debtors. The Savior reminds us that we can never pay back our debt to God, but He will forgive us conditionally upon our repentance. Therefore, we should forgive those around us as this price is infinitely less than that which God has forgiven. The Savior taught us: "I, the Lord, will forgive whom I will forgive, but of you it is required to forgive all men." Let us all be more forgiving to those around us. It is a happier way to live!
