On Saturday we walked around an old Spaniard's garden for 20 min. while
talking about tomatoes. Super funny when my fluent companion looks at me and
laughs because neither of us understood what he was saying.
Cadiz (pronounced Cái) is definitely a different country! People are
super nice here! I hurt my ankle really bad playing futbol and this old lady
just walking down the street came over and started talking to us and asked if
she should call an ambulance. She then went inside and got this Spanish pain cream
which felt like heaven when I put it on. I was walking around on crutches the
other day and we turn a corner and this guy just looks at me and immediately
says "Hope you get better!" as he passes us. Definitely a culture
shock!!!
Also the members of the church here are awesome (not sure if it can be
compared to Benidorm but close). They've been driving us everywhere because I
can't walk anywhere. There's this French member that drove us an hour to go to
a meeting in San Fernando, and our branch president took us to the hospital
that was an hour away and waited there with us and then drove us home!
In other news I hardly played the piano before coming to Spain but now
I'm playing in church which is very interesting! Train wreck but getting
better!
I had a pretty cool experience with prayer this past week! So I got
here and I was expecting to struggle with understanding people, but the worst
was that for my first week here I could hardly speak Spanish it was the
weirdest thing. I quickly realized that I had stopped praying for the gift of
tongues (the power of God to speak different languages). The very next day I
could speak without a problem. Super humbling experience and definitely a
testimony to me that we cannot do anything without God's help, and he is just
waiting for us to ask for it!
Love you all,
Elder Coleman
